LEADING SUPPLIER OF SANITARY SYSTEMS

With more than 25,000 vacuum toilet systems supplied to the global rolling market since the company was established in 1985, SEMVAC A/S is today positioned as one of the leading suppliers of sanitary systems.

In the beginning of the 1980s, a co-operation between the company Semco and the Danish State Railways (DSB) was established in connection with DSB acquiring the new IC3-trains. The Semco challenge was to develop a vacuum toilet – a product which at that time was rare and only available in limited volumes in the European rolling stock market. Environmental considerations, which were always an important issue in Danish politics, were determinative for the demand and the developing of the product.

The co-operation between DSB and Semco became very successful resulting in the establishment of Semco Vakuumteknik A/S as a company focusing exclusively on the developing and marketing of vacuum toilets on the European rolling stock market.

Since then a whole range of different vacuum toilet systems has been generated. The two best known product families on the market being SEMVAC MINI and SEMLET K. Following the success of the IC3-project there were increasing sales of toilet systems especially for the German State Railways (DB) and the German market.

During those years Semco was able to supply still more complete product solutions including water tanks, effluent tanks, level systems, complex controlling systems and finally in the mid 1990s resulting in Semco receiving the total order for toilet compartments for the Siemens’ ICE 3 and ICT high-speed trains (also known as “the white fleet”).

Along with the order for the ICE 3 and ICT trains for Siemens a new era began at Semco Vakuumteknik A/S as the company assumed the overall project management of the entire toilet compartment including all technical elements.

In November 2006 the name and brand Semco Vakuumteknik A/S was changed to SEMVAC A/S.

Today, SEMVAC A/S is a well structured and well organized sales- and engineering company in complete sanitary systems for both high speed- and regional passenger trains and sleeping car concepts. Over the years SEMVAC A/S has in close cooperation with train constructors and –operators, as well as dedicated and loyal suppliers produced a great many fine design, functional, high quality toilet systems which are appreciated by train passengers every day all over the world.
